From The Burg: More national musical acts soon will be making stops in Harrisburg, as the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (H*MAC) today announced a strategic partnership with Live Nation, a leading live entertainment company.

Under the multi-year agreement, Live Nation will be H*MAC’s exclusive booking partner for the 1,200-person capacity Capitol Room, the largest of several performance spaces in the sprawling Midtown entertainment and dining complex.

“We have a beautiful venue, and now with our new partnership with Live Nation, we’re looking to take HMAC to the next level with even more concerts and performances,” said Chris Werner, HMAC’s president of entertainment. “This new relationship will help drive the ongoing revitalization of the city’s live entertainment scene.”

H*MAC opened in 2009, with the original partners mounting an extensive, multi-year renovation of the 34,000-square-foot space that once housed Harrisburg’s first Jewish Community Center. In 2019, a new partnership assumed control, purchasing the venue for $6 million and continuing the building restoration.

H*MAC now includes several entertainment spaces, art galleries, bars and a restaurant, Zachary’s BBQ & Soul, which opened last year.

H*MAC’s smaller, 350-person capacity space, Stage on Herr, also will undergo improvements, including a wider stage, permanent seating and sound system upgrades, according to Live Nation.

“H*MAC is a fantastic space for live music, and we look forward to working closely with the team in creating new and exciting opportunities connecting artists to artists with their fans here in the capital city of Pennsylvania,” said Geoff Gordon, regional president, Live Nation Northeast.

According to Gordon, Live Nation was attracted to H*MAC due to its extensively renovated and upgraded facility, as well as its location in central PA, which offers a strategic stop for national touring acts.

“Our team currently books shows across the state in Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Allentown, Reading, Hershey, State College and Pittsburgh,” he said. “By adding H*MAC, we can provide an additional tour stop for artists traveling between cities like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, connecting them with a new and engaged audience.”

In conjunction with the partnership announcement, Live Nation today unveiled the first shows that will be a part of the ongoing live performance series at H*MAC, including Jamaican reggae singer Beres Hammond on Aug. 23, Italian goth-metal band Lacuna Coil on Sept. 8, Finland’s symphonic metal band Apocalyptica on Sept. 11, and American punk rock band Dead Boys on Oct. 20.

“H*MAC is a fantastic space for live music, and we’re looking to increase opportunities to connect music fans with some of their favorite artists here in Pennsylvania’s capital city,” Gordon said.

H*MAC is located at 1110 N. 3rd St., Harrisburg. For more information, visit For more information on Live Nation, visit

Vintage Pistol

A 5-piece roots rock band out of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Comprised of a heavy rhythm section, searing electric guitars, keyboards, and harmonica, they are described by most as wild, rambunctious and jam heavy. You’ll hear shades of the Allman Brothers, the Stones, Van Morrison and The Marcus King Band in their music.

They take the old road to rock and roll fame and fortune. Relentless touring. Hundreds of gigs, from city to city, night after night, fueled by drugs and booze and the relentless desire to be heard and to connect. No matter where or when you see them, you’ll never catch them on an off night. Vintage Pistol fires no rusty bullets. They explode like a flintrock spark to black powder and rage wildly and unpredictably throughout their shows.

Vintage Pistol released its debut album “Trial and Error” in March 2019. The spirit they bring to music has endeared them to many in the jam circuit. Collaborating and touring with the likes of Andy Frasco, CBDB, and Big Something. The band has also supported and played alongside the likes of Tyler Childers, Devon Allman (Allman Betts Band), Consider The Source, Kalu and The Electric Joint, Wild Adriatic and plenty more. Be sure to catch them on the road during festival season with slots at Backwoods Music Festival, FloydFest, Moonshiners Ball, Kickin’ It On The Creek, and more TBA![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=””][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Adv tix $12.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

An electronic music project created by the versatile drummer, Allen Aucoin. Allen explores many realms with DrFameus ranging from breakbeats to drum ‘n’ bass to dubstep to techno/house. It is his ability to survey the crowd and then improvise that has allowed Aucoin to play in such diverse projects over the years.

Allen began his musical career not onstage, but instead in education and composition. This included instructing and writing for award winning percussion ensembles and teaching drum lessons. While attending Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts Allen was given the nickname DrFameus and it has stuck ever since. Like so many of us, college was not exactly a punctual time for Allen. He became known as the guy that was famously late all the time; so much that a friend gave him the honorary doctorate, DrFameus.

After moving back to the southeast from Boston, Allen continued to work as a teacher and percussion instructor while touring with the band “Skydog Gyspy.” In 2005 Aucoin acquired his current role as the drummer for Philadelphia electronic act, the Disco Biscuits. Since winning the “drum off” held by the Biscuits in Atlantic City, Allen has played 450-500 shows with the quartet including shows at the Gorge Amphitheatre and Red Rocks Amphitheatre.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Electro rock powerhouse, Tweed, is filling dance floors with their high-energy fusion of disco, indie rock, and electronica. Just as their namesake fabric of mingling colors and textures, Tweed has interwoven a psychedelic web of composition and improvisation. Their collaboration can take listeners from multi-layered visions through the psyche to sweaty, raging disco dance parties driven by their own incessant beat.

Hailing from Philadelphia, members Joe Vela, AJ DiBiase, Jon Tomczak, Dan McDonald, and Charlie Field have graced the stages of countless clubs and festivals across the country since forming at University of Delaware in 2010. Some of their most notable performances include Peach Festival, Camp Bisco, Jam On The River, Brooklyn Bowl, Union Transfer, and the TLA having shared the bill with acts like the Disco Biscuits, Umphrey’s McGee, STS9, Odesza, Tipper, Lotus, Reggie Watts, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Beats Antique, Lettuce, Papadosio, JRAD, Bassnectar, and Santana. With relentless style, blissful melody, and a uniquely cohesive sound, Tweed has proven they can bring the party anywhere they go.
