BRINGING MORE EVENTS TO PENNSYLVANIA’S CAPITAL

From The Burg: More national musical acts soon will be making stops in Harrisburg, as the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (H*MAC) today announced a strategic partnership with Live Nation, a leading live entertainment company.

Under the multi-year agreement, Live Nation will be H*MAC’s exclusive booking partner for the 1,200-person capacity Capitol Room, the largest of several performance spaces in the sprawling Midtown entertainment and dining complex.

“We have a beautiful venue, and now with our new partnership with Live Nation, we’re looking to take HMAC to the next level with even more concerts and performances,” said Chris Werner, HMAC’s president of entertainment. “This new relationship will help drive the ongoing revitalization of the city’s live entertainment scene.”

H*MAC opened in 2009, with the original partners mounting an extensive, multi-year renovation of the 34,000-square-foot space that once housed Harrisburg’s first Jewish Community Center. In 2019, a new partnership assumed control, purchasing the venue for $6 million and continuing the building restoration.

H*MAC now includes several entertainment spaces, art galleries, bars and a restaurant, Zachary’s BBQ & Soul, which opened last year.

H*MAC’s smaller, 350-person capacity space, Stage on Herr, also will undergo improvements, including a wider stage, permanent seating and sound system upgrades, according to Live Nation.

“H*MAC is a fantastic space for live music, and we look forward to working closely with the team in creating new and exciting opportunities connecting artists to artists with their fans here in the capital city of Pennsylvania,” said Geoff Gordon, regional president, Live Nation Northeast.

According to Gordon, Live Nation was attracted to H*MAC due to its extensively renovated and upgraded facility, as well as its location in central PA, which offers a strategic stop for national touring acts.

“Our team currently books shows across the state in Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Allentown, Reading, Hershey, State College and Pittsburgh,” he said. “By adding H*MAC, we can provide an additional tour stop for artists traveling between cities like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, connecting them with a new and engaged audience.”

In conjunction with the partnership announcement, Live Nation today unveiled the first shows that will be a part of the ongoing live performance series at H*MAC, including Jamaican reggae singer Beres Hammond on Aug. 23, Italian goth-metal band Lacuna Coil on Sept. 8, Finland’s symphonic metal band Apocalyptica on Sept. 11, and American punk rock band Dead Boys on Oct. 20.

“H*MAC is a fantastic space for live music, and we’re looking to increase opportunities to connect music fans with some of their favorite artists here in Pennsylvania’s capital city,” Gordon said.

Mr. Bill has been a leader in the audio production world for years.

Beyond producing dazzlingly intricate originals, remixes, and collaborations with other stars of the industry, his eagerness to share his massive library of technical know-how has made him just as sought-after for studio work as he is for highly energetic and crowd-pleasing live performances.

Mr. Bill has toured North America and Australia with a live drummer, supported Beats Antique on multiple U.S. tours, and has played major festivals around the world. He scored the Nicolas Cage horror-comedy MOM AND DAD, and his techno side project Electrocado was signed to deadmau5’ mau5trap label for a multiple EP contract. Mr. Bill released his IDM album, Apophenia also on mau5trap, as well as the collab “10.8” with deadmau5 featuring an epic animated video by Bill’s longtime artist, Funilab. Mr. Bill also released a collaborative EP with Esseks, DeadLanguage on Ganja White Night’s Subcarbon label, and has current and future collabs slated for release on Deadbeats, Wakaan, and even more labels this year.

Alesana brings their “The Emptiness” ten year anniversary tour to HMAC on July 11th with Dead Rabbits and Ovtlier!

Alesana is an American post-hardcore band from Raleigh, North Carolina

Formed by Dennis Lee, Shawn Milke and Patrick Thompson in 2004, the group is currently signed to Revival Recordings and Artery Recordings and have released three EPs and five full-length studio albums. The band gained a wide audience after their debut, On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax was released, featuring a musical style shifting between light and heavy sounds along with a wide influence ranging from pop punk, metal and even classic rock bands such as the Beatles. Their audience grew heavily after the release of their third album, The Emptiness, which released in early-2010. Their band name is derived from street named Aliceanna Street, which was the street that vocalist/rhythm guitarist Shawn Milke and lead guitarist Patrick Thompson grew up on, in Baltimore.

Since forming in January 2017, Baked Shrimp has broken into the jam/funk scene across the Northeast region of the United States. Within two years the high-energy rock trio has performed multiple extensive tours, released an album, and most recently has broken into the festival circuit. Baked Shrimp has billed with artists such as Dweezil Zappa, Lotus, Spafford, Mungion, and Pink Talking Fish on festivals such as Great South Bay Music Festival (NY) and Larrypalooza (PA). Outside of festivals, the band has co-billed with artists including Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, LITZ, Flux Capacitor, Electric Love Machine, and Formula 5. Baked Shrimp is rapidly making new fans on their tours which land them as north as Maine, as west as Ohio, and as south as Washington D.C. The trio keeps it fresh from night to night by never performing the same setlist, and limiting the number of repeated songs in a given run of shows. They are consistently asked back by venues and fans across the region, and have a growing social media presence. Looking into the future, Baked Shrimp plans to continue touring extensively and will stay true to frequently releasing new music.
