Kilts, Celts and more: The 2018 Bal Masque will be a Celtic Ceilidh

Get ready to get Irish at the 2018 Bal Masque.

The Art Association of Harrisburg has announced the theme for the annual event: Celtic Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee).

The Bal Masque, which will be held March 10 from 6 to 10 p.m., is moving to a new location — the Capitol Room of HMAC, the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center — with proceeds to benefit the Art Association’s exhibits, education and programming.

The Kitchen @ HMAC will serve an Irish inspired dinner and dessert buffet, and there will be a cash bar.

Music will include performances by Tom and Laurie Reese, dancers from Carraig School of Irish Dance and DJ Jonathan Frazier.

The costume parade will include competition for prizes, and artist Barbara Passeri Warfel will invite guests to sit for a mini-portrait in charcoal. Silent and live auctions will be held.

Tickets are available at three levels, according to the Art Association:

  • At the $150 level, Lairds & Ladies will enjoy complimentary valet parking, two drink coupons, preferred seating and first access to dinner.
  • At the $100 level, Clanfolk get open seating, cash bar and buffet dinner and dessert.
  • Special pricing of $50 for Outlanders (first-time Bal attendees) and Clan HYP (members of Harrisburg Young Professionals) includes open seating, cash bar, buffet dinner and dessert, plus a one year AAH Membership (a $40 value).
